The Press Room

The capacity and capability of the litho production systems at Hobbs has been developing to meet the ever changing needs of our current and prospective clients.

The bulk of the production of single and two colour text printing is handled by the four Heidelberg Speedmaster 102P Perfectors. Two of these machines run 24 hours each day 6 days each week with the others running on a double day shift basis.

Four and five colour work is handled by our new Komori LS529C press which is a 5 colour B2 press with in-line coating and IR drying or by our Heidelberg Speedmaster SM52 B3 5 colour press with in-line coating and drying. The Komori in particular is a high specification, highly automated and very efficient press that has the very latest closed loop quality control systems installed.

The data used to image our plates is also used to pre-set the press allowing us to achieve accurate colour and registration very quickly. In addition the PDC-S11 colour control system monitors colour through its spectrodensitometer throughout the run automatically adjusting the inking system as required to maintain consistent and accurate colour.
