Pre-PressDeveloping Technology & Leading Edge SoftwareAs XML is rapidly becoming widespread across the industry, in recent years our pre-press department has been growing with this new coding language. Increased knowledge in this area has helped us to accelerate the development of our XML and typesetting teams. Our dedicated teams manage the expert coding and pagination required by top clients, producing the most demanding and complex of databases.
Software and technology never stands still for very long and this is particularly evident in our pre-press department. Our expert teams are highly skilled and fully equipped to typeset work from supplied files, manuscripts and also manipulate graphics, creating excellent visual artwork.
With the most up to the minute, cutting edge industry standard software such as Adobe, Quark, Corel and Microsoft packages, there is no task we can't handle, but the product of choice for our typesetting teams is Abortext Advanced Print Publisher (known as APP) or previously titled Advent 3B2. This powerful software application allows us to explore and handle today's required high quality, fully adaptable page. In brief it can create and parse XML/SGML documents, carry out high quality maths setting and automatically generate contents lists and indexes from finished paginated pages. Training in this area is also continuing at a high level, with both internal and external courses planned in forthcoming months.
Alongside this software, we also have the ability to convert Microsoft Word files into coded (tagged) data files which can then be imported into APP, thus allowing us to save time and cut unnecessary and lengthy production costs.

So, if you want your product to be available as a printed bound book, looseleaf publication or even incorporated into your company website, "we have the technology!". We are also able to place your approved PDF files and source files back onto CD-ROM as requested for future publishing use.
When the client approves the finished paginated pages from a paper proof or PDF the data is then ready to be sent to plate and is forwarded to our imposition team who deal with various sized impositions and binding styles. From there
our own Computer to Plate Department handle the plates and process these for the Press Room.
